J: Well, yeah even I’m living together with that prettier participant.

J: But I’ve designed that pretty much on my own even though this is our first shared home. But we will design our next home more together.

J: This is my guitar. I’ve composed 2 of our first albums with this and a bit of our third album as well. Now I’ve made music with this, these are very cheap guitars.

A: You have also pretty much some Jesus-stuff. Do they have some meaning for you?
J: Well, I’ve always liked that… I haven’t been so Bible-orientated but actually to me it’s just a consolation that there’s still something after life.

While my dreams have come true, I dream so much…I actually read that Loiri-interview where he was staring at the mirror, hands were crossed and “give me a sound” and I’ve experienced that same feeling. Like give me that “full-time bread” from my work as a musician. Now I can do it and have been able to do for few years already, to self-actualize myself with music and that’s how my belief has strengthened. I don’t push it on anyone, I have an own thing and probably not any big grey man sitting on throne. I believe in good things, in positive Karma. I don’t believe that there has been created some specific fate for everyone, just an own activity. With your own activity you can…
A: And with choices?
J: And with choices you can affect your own life. I think it would be like wasting your life if you just stayed there with crossed hands and adored some ugauga or what ever – like “make my life like I want it to be”.

J: I don’t know. Kurt Cobain was the first one, he was like first ever. And of course since my childhood, Elvis has been. But actually the coolest one has been dad, he’s here playing drums.

The manager of the Liimatainen rock family, is Tommi who besides Negative, is also manager of their little brother Ville’s band Flinch.
J: How are you doing now, Tommi?
T: When it comes to situations, I’m doing fine.
J: What about Flinch? When do they start making new album?
T: Well then when they bring theirselves to the studio. It’s kind of a lifetime project. It will be a thing for our whole family again when they start to make new album.
J: I heard those demos, those Ville’s songs sounded good.
T: Did the others think so or you?
J: No, I really think they were good. I mean, I can already see it on back glass of a car that he speeds past. Next straight way and he speeds past.
T: Our athletics competition came to my mind ‘cause you said that. Last summer we had…
J: We had running contest with our cousins.
T: Ville challenged me in the morning, we were supposed to run 400m. I practised 6 months for that. Vexi smokes cigarette on the verge of field and then he comes with his old pants and shoes…then we started to run and when we caught 300m, he speeded past and I didn’t have a good feeling after that.
A: Did you have some heptathlon?
J: Yeah, we had all sports there. But I couldn’t throw javelin very well, I don’t understand why. Ville threw it always very well, Tommi was so angry.
T: No I wasn’t.
J: All the others went to sauna but Tommi just stayed there like “what is wrong with it ‘cause I can’t throw it so well?? Is it wind or what is it?”
A: I read from some interview that when you were little and you did something you shouldn’t have done, you weren’t afraid of what your parents would say, you were afraid of what Tommi would say.
J: Yeah, that’s how it was. Tommi is 6 years older than I am. He was already so old that he was like authority.
A: What kind of punishments did you give? Did you have some…?
J: I came home many times when I had taken snuff and when I was smoking…I remember that once he started to say “Give me your fingers” and then he smelled if I had smoked or not. Then we found out we could take mugwort and rub it to our fingers.
T: Do you smoke now?
J: No.
A: Don’t you smoke?
J: No, and neither take snuff.
A: That’s good.

T: Do you drink too much?

T: Negative actually had a gig in Tampere and our granny was wearing that Ngt’s t-shirt that has a text “Let’s fuck” on it and one journalist asked from her ”Do you know what that text means” and our granny looket at that journalist and said “ I am over 90 years old. I know what that shirt says."

J: Actually one of my dreams is to set up a restaurant someday. I could do it visually and decide about food and…
A: You have to become like Sakke Järvenpää of new generation.
J: Yeah I could. Someone has to press on that tradition anyway.

A: This is a bit different like the other rehearsal rooms where I’ve been.

A: Do you still think it’s cool to be on tour?
J: Yes. It’s great. I think it’s the best thing. And this whole thing is concretised when we are on tour. I feel it’s the coolest thing when I jump to the bus.

A: What’s the biggest audience you have had?
J: I don’t know, probably at some festival gig in Japan. So many people can fit in those festival areas. I’m so bad at counting. Probably something like 10-20.000 people.

A: Do you think you would be able to do something normal after that. Like you have been playing in front of 50 000 people and…
J: I guess I could if I should. I think if I started to do something else like working as a plumber, my blood would drag me into this on my spare time.

J: Yes. I didn’t even know what something means in English, those lyrics. I just performed to the fullest. That feeling was great. …
A: Did your ego fit into that yard after that anymore?
J: No. But to the smoking area. I used to have that kind of vice then. But it was horrible, I remember I used to vomit before every gig then. Every “gig”, we played like 3-4 songs. But I had a huge ardour for singing anyway. And I think it’s all about that, no matter what you do but if you don’t have ardour for that, you can’t do that.

R: No, I really have to say that if we talk about success and other things like that, he hasn’t changed at all. He’s the same little boy like before. So nothing has changed.

Just to return to that American scriptwriter, a trip from a bed in children’t home to the icon of people is just an incredible act.
J: But there were unbelievable parties when I moved to my first own apartment.

J: Yes and Tammelan puistokatu was like Sunset boulevard, sunset strip but just a smaller one.
A: But you have still held that all in your arms, the signs kinda show that all this could have ended up in different way.
J: Yes.
A: Difficult childhood, playing rock, all those things.
J: I think being together with the band have saved me from so many things, though it has also led me into ruination. And Riku, my friend and other important friends and people.

J: But the biggest…yeah, Tommi. But the biggest has been my girlfriend who has kept me here. Everyone needs someone like that, every asteroid and shuttle needs some dockyard. To go down. No one can be on runway forever. Or at least I’m not jealous of those people who have to be. I think this all could have ended up in so different way but there have been so great people around me. At the end, there’s no-one alone, it’s been a bit like serendipity. Life is like a roulette. That ball just spins around, again and again. Now these things are going too profundity.

J: Now I’m talking deep shit. But when the lane is open, I just have to let it come out.
A: I don’t know how to ask this…but you became very famous when you threw televisions out of windows. I think it’s cool that you have done it.

And then I just opened my door fast ‘cause I needed to hurry for soundcheck or something and I turned around and they were just sitting there in silence and there were really like 40-50 people. And just in silence, no-one said anything. They just stared at me and then I turned around and then I just went to lift and went down fast. It was pretty fun.

A: Are you angry at your mom and dad ‘cause their childhood was like that?
J: Of course not. At least not anymore.

J: Maybe I have had some bad feelings earlier but life is too short for that.

просто группа и йонне для меня много значат, а еще и этот финский язык. и финляндия вообще.
может быть, это я слишком чувтсвительный и эмоциональный человек)

Ооо да! Я когда это увидела я чуть от радости не заплакал))) И да...Suomi...я учу финский самостоятельно ибо в нашем городе нет преподавателей финского языка..Вооще нравиться сама страна, ее культура, музыка...эхх) вот самые 2 любимые финский группы для меня это Negative & Uniklubi

я вот тоже изучаю финский уже несколько лет, и самостоятельно пытаюсь,но большую часть с учителем конечно.
надеюсь через несколько лет перееду жить в финку совсем =Р
