On this surprisingly warm mid-January evening we got the chance to have a chat with these 2 gentlemen while they were having dinner

This is your 3rd time performing here in Hungary, how do you feel about it? Antti: Good! I think we played 2 years ago in the same venue and it was a really great success, the gig went really well, audience and everything and it’s nice to be back now because it went so well before.
Snack: We also played at Sziget Festival.
Antti: Yeah of course, Sziget as well. Then we didn’t have any time...well it’s almost the same thing now that we don’t have so much time to spend anywhere except in the venue, cause after the show we have to travel right to the next venue which is a pity, BUT the energy is good, feeling is good, audience is great...
Snack: And we already had 3 gigs behind, so the band is in good shape, we are almost halfway of the tour.

The last time I had an interview with Jonne 4 years ago, he told me he would like to make this band more famous than Coca-Cola so how is this process going?
Snack: We are working on it *smiles* the goal is there you know...
During the years you became a role model for many young people. How does it make you feel? Is it putting any pressure on you?
Antti: Well first of all, I don’t wanna be any role model for anybody, I don’t think I would be a good one anyway, I think those Idol people are more for that so...
You’re just being yourself then.
Snack: As we have always been, exactly. Like we just wear what we want and do as we like, that’s what we are. It’s not our thing to tell people what they should or should not think.
Antti: I’m trusting on people using more their brains instead of following anybody else.
What does it take a good performer? Or again is it just about being who you are?
Antti: Pretty much. Of course there is more to it...when you walk on the stage there is this adrenaline thing going on and feelings about how could you sound at that time, and you can get feelings from...but everything is real, we always try to give our best on the stage during the show and I am not only talking about the music, but everything else, lights and stage, and giving the energy to the audience. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t but we always try our best.
All the previous albums had at least one song describing the rock n roll lifestyle like LA Feeding Fire, Lust N Needs or Sinners Night. We couldn’t find songs like these on Neon. Does it mean that you grew out of drinking and partying or is it just a coincidence?
Antti: No, it means more the record company actually...
Snack: Of course we had these harder songs also. Once again there was one planned, but it was kicked out from the album. It became a bonus track for Japan, it’s called Eat You Alive. Which is more like you can use your imagination at the same time, there is this Guns N Roses and Aerosmith stuff in it and...
Antti: So NO, we haven’t grown up, to answer your question!! *smiles*
It’s good to know So how much creative influence do you have on your own songs? It seems the record label is setting up boundaries for you.
Antti: It’s more like they have their opinion and we have our opinion and then we try to put it together. These situations sometimes can be really annoying. Especially when there is 5 guys in a band and there is 10 more people around them, it is impossible to make it like everybody is feeling 100% satisfied. It already starts at the rehearsal place, where we practice songs, we might have 20 and they are only able to put 10 of them on the album, it's not easy.
Snack: You have to take a look at the whole picture of the album, there cannot be totally different songs, they have to follow the same line and be somewhat similar.
Can you tell me a bit more about the song, Neon Rain?
Snack: It’s kind of an outro on the album...of course we were in LA, which is a big movie city, all the big movies come from Hollywood so we had this littlebit movie kind of theme which you could hear from the songs. We created this beautiful ending so it’s not just a song, there is something different this time.
Your audience is mainly girls and young women but only a few guys. Why do you think it is that way?
Snack: I think it was more like that in the beginning. Yesterday we went to the Czech Republic and there were those old rock n rollers there with grey hair, it was really nice to see them. We are growing so our audience is growing too.
How much do you think looks matter in the music business?
Antti: I think the best thing is when whatever you are sounding like, you look the same way you sound like, these things go hand in hand in a way, if you know what I mean...
So the music reflects your personality as well.
Antti: I think so, yes...if you take a look at our band - when you never heard a song from us - you can almost immediately can get an idea how our music is gonna sound like. These things go hand in hand, so you won’t be so surprised that we are not playing heavy metal or classical music or whatever...
Talking about looks, do you find yourself attractive?
Snack: Ah, it REALLY depends on the day
What advice could you give to somebody who wants to make a carrier out of working in the music business?
Antti: Hm...go to school...go to work...so you have a solid base...
Snack: Be careful what people you know and believe in...there is so many people who love testing you like do this and do that, you have to learn to separate those instructions, learn which ones are good for you and skip those ones which aren’t...yeah...that’s very important...
There are quite many fans following you around to almost every concert. What is the thing in your opinion that makes these people visit your shows again and again?
Antti: You really should ask that from them but...I personally – when I was younger – I used to do the same thing, so I kinda know how it feels to be a huge fan of some band. I think it is that we are a kind of band which makes you feel something, so even if you have seen the band many times before, you want to go after them, far to other countries maybe, even with the same setlist, same band, same songs on the same tour, you still want to go and do it, because there is always some little difference. And you can find these out when you see a band many many times.
Snack: I think it’s the songs, I guess they can relate them to their lives and that’s why.
Many famous artists have released books so far. Are you thinking about such thing as well?
Snack: Of course there is going to be at some point but we haven’t thought so much about it yet...
Did stalker fans affect your relationship with the rest of your fans in any way? Did you become more careful during the years?
Antti: A little bit yeah. You also have to learn how to handle the fucker ones. But it’s not too bad or too much, I mean we are not like Madonna...so sometimes there are things but we learned to handle them.
How do you deal with negative criticism? What could you say to those people who judge you badly?
Antti: If you judge the band really down for the reason then I don’t have anything to say, if you can tell why, it’s OK. It goes the same way with good opinions, it’s not a very nice feedback when they tell you you are awesome and you ask why. Then they say „Oh, I don’t know, EVERYTHING is just awesome!” - this is not very nice. So if you have a reason, I think it's just fine.
What do you want to be remembered for?
Snack: I think about the songs, that they will last forever...
Antti: For a band, which gave hope for somebody, maybe even help in their lives, a band which makes people feel something inside. That’s pretty much it, if I know I was successful in it, that is all I can ask.
When things are going badly, how do you pull yourself together? Especially when you must be in a good shape...
Snack: As a band we support each other well, we already know each other’s bad days, and how to handle the situations. We also know a bit how to cheer the others up. We have been together for so many years...
Antti: For me personally music is a really big help. I am not talking about our music but I have so many records at my home and they are always there for me, you can count on them, it’s a great help for sure.
Any last words for the Hungarian fans?
Antti: Hello and greetings from Finland and all around the planet. And next time we are back here, hopefully as soon as possible, bring your friends and family and everybody you can with you and let’s make a big rock n roll party over here!!!

я всех, кроме Йонне) жмурики в моем понимании - это как дети, которых мама одела в то, что было) Все в черном чего-то...однообразные. Не стильно и не ярко. Безвкусно и неопрятно. Вот как-то так. Но я только фотки имела в виду. Видео лень смотреть)

и я бы уж точно не стала её просить, мне бы в голову даже не пришло. Они и так её каждый концерт поют
обожаю Стил элайв - и из-за слов (I`m still alive, I will never give up..ну как бы не только этих, просто для примера.. ), и из-за мелодии (О, это соло!!!...), и потому что это была одна из первых песен (точнее видео), которые я услышала у НГТ.. и вообще )
и я бы оооочень хотела услышать её вживую. Конечно, они её поют постоянно, но я вживую её никогда не слышала.. чтоб вот так вот он в паре метров от меня с гитарой, поёт Стилл элайв, все подпевают... и я б точно разревелся, без шуток )

Потому что я, человек тогда с негативом не знакомый вообще, ревела в три ручья, без шуток.
но если бы я поехала сейчас, я бы просила либо эйнджелз, либо каукайсиммалле ранналле.. я до смерти хотела бы ещё послушать тачлесс и ин мемориам, но Йонне их не поёт больше..
Видимо, я столько задрачивалась с переборами на этой песне, что для меня в ней пропала вся магия((((-

о_О Лично я могу слушать эту песню бесконечно, ибо любимая, а Стилл Элайв живьём - это вообще нечто уникальное, мне кажется, что эта песня как воздействует на каждого в отдельности, так и объединяет всех вместе.

Не знаю, мне кажется, что хоть она и классная, у НГТ полюбому есть и более классные баллады...
но на концерте это было офигенно
